LAHORE: Pakistan’s former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said on Tuesday that the 2018 elections saw the appointment of a ‘selected’ prime minister through ‘electoral engineering’.
Addressing a parliamentary board meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PNL-N) in Lahore, Sharif emphasized the toll the country had paid due to the installation of an unworthy individual as prime minister.
During his speech, he underscored the stark disparity between the promises and actions of the PTI chief during his time in power, lamenting the adverse impact on the country.
Reflecting on his own government’s term, Sharif highlighted the positive developments in 2017, including the initiation of significant development projects and the foundation of the first motorway.
He contended that had his government continued, the country would have achieved its goals by now, expressing regret over the fact that nations trailing behind Pakistan had surged ahead.
Sharif claimed that essential commodities were affordable during his party’s rule, and their prices skyrocketed unfairly when the PTI assumed power.
