LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif on Saturday promised to put the country back on the path of development after being elected to power. He said this while chairing the 6th parliamentary board meeting of the party held at the PML-N Secretariat today.
Reflecting on his past role in steering the country out of crisis, Nawaz Sharif expressed his determination to lead Pakistan towards development once again. He highlighted the critical circumstances faced by the nation over the last four years and emphasized the need for comprehensive development initiatives.
Nawaz Sharif recalled the progress made during his tenure as the Prime Minister in 2017, particularly noting the development journey that was halted by subsequent administrations. He criticized what he deemed an incompetent government imposed on the nation, asserting that it sabotaged key development projects, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Nawaz Sharif Recalls Achievements of His Previous Govt
The former Prime Minister pointed out the positive economic indicators and stable Pakistani rupee during his previous term, contrasting it with the subsequent depreciation. Nawaz Sharif argued that the PML-N consistently secured public mandates based on its performance across economic, political, defense, and foreign affairs fronts.
Highlighting the diplomatic achievements during his tenure, he recalled visits by Indian Prime Ministers Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi to Pakistan, stressing the importance of resolving issues and establishing strong ties with neighboring countries.
Addressing the current political landscape, Nawaz Sharif credited the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) for preventing a default scenario in 2022 and expressed satisfaction over the removal of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government through a no-confidence motion.
Encouraging politicians to serve the masses with sincerity, Nawaz Sharif emphasized the need for a comprehensive plan and program in politics. He called on politicians to prioritize service delivery among the masses and focus on progress from the grassroots to the national level.
The meeting was attended by key PML-N figures, including President Shehbaz Sharif, Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz, Senator Ishaq Dar, Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal, Punjab President Rana Sanaullah, and Saad Rafique.
