SIALKOT: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo and former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Saturday lauded the significant contributions of the Sialkot business community to the nation’s economy.
Nawaz Sharif visited the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), where he was warmly welcomed by the SCCI President Abdul Ghafoor Malik and the city’s business leaders.
Nawaz Sharif Highlights Pakistan’s Potential for Economic Growth
Nawaz Sharif, in his address, commended the invaluable role played by the business community of Sialkot, recognizing their pivotal contribution to the national economy. He emphasized Pakistan’s vast potential for exponential growth and stressed the need for a steadfast strategy in critical areas such as the economy and social progress.
Addressing the gathering, SCCI President Abdul Ghafoor Malik underscored the importance of a sustainable and long-term economic plan to boost exports and encourage import substitution. He highlighted various infrastructural needs of the district, expressing confidence that exports could potentially double in the coming years if the right conditions were established.

The meeting, attended by prominent figures including former Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Maryam Nawaz, former Minister for Planning and Special Initiative Ahsan Iqbal, Maryam Aurangzeb, Pervaiz Rashid, and Group Leader of the Sialkot business community Riaz-ud-Din Sheikh, provided a platform for discussions on economic strategies and future development plans.
Senior Vice President SCCI Wahub Jahangir, Vice President SCCI Amer Majeed Sheikh, former SCCI Presidents, Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, and members of the business community also participated in the event.
