NATO Chief Asks Bosnian Leaders to Focus on Domestic Reconciliation

ISLAMABAD: NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Monday asked leaders of Bosnia and Herzegovina to focus on domestic reconciliation and refrain from divisive rhetoric.

The NATO chief made this statement following a meeting with Bosnian tripartite presidency’s Bosnian member Denis Becirovic in Brussels.

The NATO statement disclosed that Stoltenberg and Becirovic had talked about the actions of separatists and the use of divisive rhetoric that can allow external players to act out their malignant designs.

Nato chief vows to aid Bosnia in defense sector reforms

Stoltenberg stressed Western Balkan region’s stability was in NATO’s strategic importance.

He reiterated NATO’s commitment to continue helping Bosnia with defense sector reforms. This would include NATO Headquarters Sarajevo.

In response, Becirovic that Bosnia and Herzegovina will intensify its path to attain full membership of the Western security alliance.

He added that joining NATO as well as the European Union was his country’s strategic goal.
