Nationwide Anti-Polio Campaign Starts Today

ISLAMABAD: A week-long nationwide anti-polio drive of varied duration begins today (Monday) to administer vaccine drops to children under the age of five.

According to details, polio teams will be strategically positioned at bus stops, railway stations, and other public areas to ensure widespread vaccination.

During the campaign, Polio teams of the health department will conduct door-to-door visits in all 159 districts.

In Punjab, more than twenty-three million children are slated to receive polio drops during the week-long campaign. Lahore, Faisalabad, and Multan have been identified as particularly sensitive cities for the effort. In Sindh, nearly 10.03 million children under five will be given anti-polio vaccine drops. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa aims to vaccinate over seven point four million children in a five-day drive, while Balochistan targets over 2.5 million during a week-long campaign.

Gilgit-Baltistan aims to vaccinate over two hundred fifty thousand children throughout the day campaign.

The health department emphasizes the importance of citizen cooperation in achieving the comprehensive eradication of this debilitating disease from the country.  —APP
