QUETTA: Keeping its supremacy in the 34th National Games, the Pakistan Army team also excelled in the Taekwondo Games in Quetta by securing many gold and silver medals in different categories of the Khyrougi event.
In the Men’s Khyrougi competition of -54 kg, Shahbaz of the Airforce secured first place to win the gold medal (2-0), while Army’s Abu Bakar bagged the silver medal after securing second place.
HEC’s Hassan secured the bronze medal after securing third place in the contest, while Samra came in fourth place.
In the -58 kg Men’s Khyrougi event, Army’s Haroon Khan bagged the gold medal (2-0), Air Force’s Ali Hassan secured the silver medal, and Baluchistan’s Nisar Ahmed won the bronze medal. Noorullah of Railway got 4th place.
In the Men’s -87kg event, Army’s Hamza Omar won the gold medal after securing first place (2-0), while Wapda’s Waqar Ali Shah won the silver medal, and the 3rd position was claimed by Sindh’s Badshah Khan, who won a bronze medal in this contest. KPK’s Tariq Khan came in fourth place.
In the Men’s -63kg competition, Army’s Arbaz bagged a gold medal after securing first position (2-1) while PAF’s Fareed secured a silver medal to be placed at Number 2, and HEC’s Shiraz secured a bronze medal.
Army sweeps in women’s category
Army also swept the women’s categories where Eesha Safdar bagged the gold medal (2-0) after securing first place in the Women’s Khyrougi’s -46 kg category. HEC’s Rovina won the silver medal after securing second place, while Balochistan’s Asifa Ali won bronze to win 3rd place in this category. Wapda’s Samra came in 4th place in the contest.
In the Women’s -57 kg event, Army’s Noor Rehman’s won Gold Medal (2-0) after securing place, while Kinza of Punjab won the silver medal, and Wapda’s Yumna bagged the bronze after coming in 3rd place in the contest. Amina of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa got the 4th slot.
Pakistan Taekwondo Federation CEO Omar Saeed, who was the chief guest, PTF President Col. Waseem Janjua, Tehmina Asif, and Farah Saeed, distributed the medals and appreciated the participating athletes for their hard work and commitment throughout the event.
