ISLAMABAD: National Austerity Committee on Wednesday proposed several measures to cut down expenditures, as the country is facing a serious economic crisis and shrinking forex reserves.
The committee proposed to cut the subsidy amount on arms by Rs200 billion, development expenditure by Rs200 billion, and the running civil government by Rs55 billion.
Committee’s other proposals
It also proposed to cut subsidies on the Single Treasury Account by Rs60-70 billion, energy conversion measures by Rs100 billion, and non-strategic enterprises by Rs174 billion.
