ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly of Pakistan has unanimously approved a resolution expressing solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on “Black Day”, local media reported.

According to media reports, Pakistan’s Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Engineer Amir Muqam, tabled the resolution on the 77th anniversary of the Indian invasion of Kashmir on 27th October 1947. The resolution has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to supporting the Kashmiris in their struggle for the absolute right to self-determination.

It added that lasting peace and stability in South Asia region are contingent upon the final resolution of the issue of Kashmir as per the UNSC resolutions and the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.

The House has also reiterated its rejection of New Delhi’s continued efforts to change the internationally recognized disputed status of India’s Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, its demographic structure, and its political landscape. The resolution strongly denounced the prolonged detention of thousands of political workers and the banning of several political parties in Kashmir.

It stated that farcical polls in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) cannot be a substitute for the right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people.
