ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly passed a resolution on Monday vowing to try those miscreants and violaters who were involved in the May 9 attacks on the sensitive installations of the state including the army under existing laws, comprising the Army Act and the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Earlier, during the session, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif moved the resolution, which was passed by the House with a majority of votes in its favor.
While presenting the resolution, Khwaja Asif read it out as “Heartbreaking events took place on May 9”, adding that “the day should be counted as a black day”.
National Assembly Paves Way for Miscreants’ Trial
The resolution being passed further stated that the concerned authorities would be empowered to deal with the propaganda on social media (inside and abroad) against the institutions in Pakistan, adding that those found involved in the malicious campaigns against the country should be dealt with strictly as per the law.
Meanwhile, criticizing the politics of Chairman PTI (Pakistan Tehrek-e-Insaf), Imran Khan, the defense minister, said that the country witnessed many attacks from India in the past, but the one on May 9 was the one tailored from Mianwali and one of the key supporters of Imran Khan who was engaged to identify military sites over there.
He stressed the efforts to identify all those being involved in such heinous crimes and urged all, including the parliamentarians, to play their role in the protection of institutions of the state.
