Nation Celebrates Pakistan Day with Military Parade

ISLAMABAD: The nation celebrates Pakistan Day today with renewed pledge to work hard for the development, progress and stability of the country. The main feature of the day is the grand military parade in Islamabad where contingents of the three-armed forces and other security forces conducted march past while fighter planes presented aerobatic maneuvers.

Pakistan’s President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and all the services chiefs were present at the occasion. The day marks approval of historic Lahore Resolution this day in 1940 that provided a framework for realization of the goal of a separate motherland for Muslims of Sub-continent. Pakistan day dawned with 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in all provincial capitals.

Special prayers were offered across the country following Fajr prayers for the prosperity, welfare, and solidarity of the Nation. National flag is hoisted on major government buildings in the country.

Similarly, an investiture ceremony will also be held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in the afternoon where President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari would confer awards and medals to personalities for their outstanding contribution in different fields.

Electronic media and print media are giving special coverage to highlight the significance of the day and pay rich tribute to the leaders of Pakistan Movement.

In his message, Zardari reflected on the historic significance of March 23rd, commemorating the passage of the Pakistan Resolution in 1940, which laid the foundation for the creation of Pakistan as an independent homeland.

Zardari emphasized the vision and determination of Pakistan’s forefathers, particularly honoring the commitment and sacrifices of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and his companions in transforming Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal’s dream into reality.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message on Pakistan Day, said that, being cognizant of the major challenges Pakistan faces, the government was determined to pull the country out of crisis.

Despite various challenges including inflation, unemployment, circular debt, fiscal and trade deficits, and terrorism, the government was determined to lead the country towards economic recovery and prosperity through a comprehensive policy reform framework.

In his message, the Prime Minister praised the resilience of Pakistanis and their ability to endure extraordinary circumstances. He assured citizens that measures would be taken to stabilize the economy, reduce inflation, and bring relief to the people.

The Armed Forces of Pakistan, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) and the Services Chiefs have congratulated the nation on the 84th Pakistan Day falling today (March 23).

In a message from the ISPR, they said that the promising day is reminiscent of great efforts of the Muslims of sub-continent when they determined their destiny in line with vision of the great leaders for a separate homeland for Muslims.

They said that the historic day also reminds the nation of the greatest sacrifices and contributions of the forefathers which they made in the struggle for creation of the homeland.

The Armed Forces also talked about the plight of Muslims in India in general and Occupied Kashmir in particular, who they said, are facing worst form of brutalities at the hands of the fascist regime. They said it reminds them of the importance and value of the independence.

“On this day, Armed Forces of Pakistan renew their resolve to defend the motherland and protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity at all times and at any cost; and uphold the national flag INSHA’ALLAH. Pakistan Armed Forces Zindabad, Pakistan Paindabad.”
