ISLAMABAD: To enhance the registration process for births, marriages, divorces, and deaths, NADRA has unveiled its Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Inception Plan, which has received approval from the Ministry of Interior.

This initiative focuses on data integration between provincial and federal authorities through digitization, aiming to better serve citizens. The plan will be implemented over two years in three distinct phases.

Phase I involves integrating Punjab’s Health Information System Delivery Unit (HISDU) and the Federal Directorate of Immunisation (FDI) with NADRA. This phase will introduce Birth and Death Notification Tools in 10 hospitals and implement SMS alerts for birth certificates.

Phase II will expand the system to cover 25% of public healthcare facilities across the country and digitize the registration of marital status changes.

Phase III aims for comprehensive coverage, reaching 90% of healthcare facilities and fully integrating all Town Committees and Union Councils.

To facilitate this, NADRA is also developing a mobile application for both citizens and relevant officials. Additionally, necessary legislative reforms are being pursued to better align federal and provincial registration systems.
