JEDDAH: Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal has become ambassador of the Saudi Tennis Federation (STF), the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.
He assumed the role with a goal to inspire the next generation, promote tennis as a sport in Saudi Arabia and contribute to the overall development of sports in the area.
Under the partnership e a tennis academy named Rafael Nadal will be established. The academy will offer state-of-the-art facilities and employ the latest training methods, aiming emerging talents in the field of tennis.

STF President Arij Mutabagani said that Nadal is a true champion both on and off the court. Mutabagani stressed Nadal is a role model for young individuals, highlighting his dedication and commitment to train future tennis stars.
She also highlighted that Saudi Arabia has emerged as a hub for major international sports events in line with Saudi Vision 2030 and the ongoing social and economic transformation the country is undergoing.
Growth and progress that’s important to see and the STF is working on that.

Meanwhile, Nadal expressed his pleasure in being part of this collaboration and affirmed his determination to contribute to the growth of sports internationally, particularly in Saudi Arabia.
Nadal also acknowledged the abundant real capabilities that support the country’s prosperity.
The tennis icon said the academy in Diriyah represents a long-term commitment to tennis and the Kingdom.
