NAB Gets Power to Detain Accused for 30 Days

ISLAMABAD: Acting President Sadiq Sanjrani on Monday approved the NAB (Amendment) Ordinance 2023, under which the arrested accused can be kept on physical remand for thirty days instead of fourteen.

The ordinance enabled the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman to issue arrest warrants for the suspect in case of non-cooperation in the probe.

Sanjrani approved the ordinance promulgation on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Cabinet approves NAB law ammendment

Earlier, the federal cabinet gave its nod to the amendments in the NAB law.

Sanjrani is performing his duties as acting president as President Dr Arif Alvi is currently in Saudi Arabia for performing hajj.
