NA Speaker Commends Services of Christians in Country’s Progress

He also lauds the community’s role in strengthening democracy.

The Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) Raja Pervez Ashraf said on Tuesday that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees equality for citizens regardless of race, color, or creed because parliamentarians on the government side always do their job in protecting the rights of minorities.

He said this during a meeting with prominent people from the Christian community today speaking at the auditorium, in Islamabad.

According to APP, he said it recognizes and appreciates the commendable work of Christian organizations in the overall progress of the country, especially in the areas of education, health, social welfare, and promoting inter-religious harmony.
The Speaker also praised the country’s role in democratizing and promoting democratic values ​​in the country.

While speaking to the delegation which included Mr. Roekh Yousaf Bhinder, Head of HT Church of England Diocese in Liverpool, Kashif Nemat, Head of Pakistan Christian Lawyers Association, Mr. Samuel Maksan, the President of the Forum of the Implementation of the Rights of Minorities and Mr. Samuel Patara stressed on spreading the good news of the country.

He advised them to highlight the important achievements of the state in protecting their rights and providing equal opportunities to minorities in the country. The speaker emphasized that no country can progress if it denies the needs of all its citizens. He pointed out that the minorities in Pakistan are satisfied with the state as compared to the minorities in our neighboring countries.
