WILMINGTON: The United States Virgin Islands has subpoenaed Tesla company CEO Elon Musk in a lawsuit accusing JP Morgan Chase of helping the late Jeffrey Epstein to sex traffic women.
The subpoena has asked the Tesla CEO to turn over any records of correspondence between him, the JP Morgan Chase bank and Epstein, who died in 2019.
The Virgin Islands didn’t seek to question Elon under oath, and its subpoena did not implicate him in any wrongdoing.
According to the court filing in the United States District Court in Manhattan, Elon, one of the richest citizens in the world, may have been referred to JP Morgan by Epstein. The Virgin Islands didn’t provide further explanation for its interest in obtaining documents from Elon.
In a tweet, Musk said the notion that he will listen to financial advice from Epstein was absurd.
Referring to Epstein, he said that “cretin never advised me on anything whatsoever.”
Epstein died in 2019 in a jail cell in New York while awaiting trial on sex charges.
The Virgin Islands accuses JP Morgan of missing red flags about Epstein’s abuse of females on Little St James, the private island he owned there. The bank has rejected knowledge of Epstein’s crimes.
In the subpoena, the Virgin Islands demanded any documents Elon has about Epstein’s participation in human trafficking and his procurement of women or girls for commercial sex.
The subpoena sought any communications between the entrepreneur and JPMorgan about Epstein and between Epstein and Musk. Documents regarding fees paid by Elon to Epstein and JPMorgan fall under the subpoena.
