ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s former cricketer Mushtaq Ahmed shared his insights on the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final, foreseeing a decisive win for five-time champions Australia over hosts India at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
The final, scheduled for Sunday, is a rematch of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2003 final, where Australia emerged victorious.
Both India and Australia secured their spots in the final with impressive victories over New Zealand and South Africa in the semifinals. India enters the finale as the only unbeaten team in the tournament, while Australia, after initial setbacks, rallied to win eight consecutive matches.
Australia Favorite for World Cup Final
Reflecting on the final during a private channel’s show, Mushtaq Ahmed expressed confidence in Australia’s triumph, predicting a comfortable victory without much resistance from the Indian side. He particularly highlighted the batting prowess of Australia’s openers, David Warner and Travis Head, anticipating them to dominate the opposition.
However, his fellow panelist and former cricketer Mohammad Yousuf offered a different perspective, predicting India as the ultimate winner in the high-stakes final.
