ISLAMABAD: Mushaal Hussain Malik, Special Assistant to the Caretaker Prime Minister, has called on international human rights institutions and global rights organizations to address the ongoing human rights violations in India’s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. She also emphasized the importance of protecting human rights defenders.

During an interview with a private news channel, Malik expressed her deep concern over the situation of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and made an appeal to the UN Secretary-General for their release, while also urging the resolution of the Kashmir issue in alignment with Security Council resolutions.

Malik underscored that the silence of major global powers has emboldened India to engage in a relentless campaign of human rights abuses against innocent Kashmiris. She emphasized that granting self-determination to the Kashmiri people is a critical factor for global peace and development, emphasizing that India is involved in state-sponsored terrorism at regional and global levels.

The Special Assistant stressed that the international community should not appease India and should work to curb India’s fundamentalism and extremism, as these elements could potentially disrupt global peace and stability.

She highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to bring India’s state-sponsored terrorism, particularly in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, to the attention of international forums.

In response to a question, Malik emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to peace, stability, and UN resolutions that support the right of self-determination for the Kashmiri people. She also called on the Indian government to ensure the well-being of its citizens.

Furthermore, Malik demanded the immediate release of all Kashmiri political prisoners who have been detained in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and various Indian prisons for an extended period.
