ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, Mushaal Hussain Malik, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, expressed deep concerns about the human rights situation in occupied Kashmir.

She emphasized that India’s actions violate international law and norms by denying Kashmiris their right to self-determination.

During an interview with a private news channel, she called world powers to assume responsibility for pressuring India to address the Kashmir issue for regional peace and stability. She described the Kashmir valley as the largest prison in the world. She pointed out the existence of over two dozen UN resolutions supporting the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

She also compared that Narendra Modi’s actions are reminiscent of Israel’s treatment of the Muslim population. When asked about the situation, she stressed that Kashmiris should have the right to determine their fate, just like any other nation. She asserted that it is the international community’s responsibility to act to ensure that Kashmiris are granted their right to self-determination under relevant UN resolutions.

Furthermore, she urged the champions of democracy and human rights worldwide to take the Kashmir situation seriously and pressure India to resolve this longstanding issue. —APP
