ISLAMABAD: Pakistani mountaineer Murad Sadpara, spearheading the initiative to clean up the K-2, has tragically lost his life after suffering severe injuries during his descent from Broad Peak, the Broad Peak Rescue Team has confirmed on Monday.
After departing from the base camp earlier Monday, the rescue crew arrived at Camp One and verified Sadpara’s demise.
Murad Sadpara, an seasoned mountaineer, was critically injured at Camp 1 when a stone struck his head. He was still hoping for rescuers to discover him despite his injuries. In response, the Pakistan Army moved quickly, sending four skilled climbers to the base camp to help with the rescue effort.
Sadly, Sadpara passed away from his wounds before assistance could reach him, despite the rescuers’ best efforts. Currently, the goal of the rescue squad is to return his body to the base camp.
Murad Sadpara has successful summitted Nanga Parbat twice. His tragic demise is a significant loss to the mountaineering community in Pakistan.
As the nation grieves the loss of one of its finest climbers, his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of mountaineers.
