Multan Test: Imam and Shakeel Fifties Hold up England, Pakistan 198/4 at Stumps

MULTAN: Saud Shakeel and Imam-ul-Haq scored defiant fifties to keep the Pakistan cricket team in the hunt, but the England cricket team maintained the upper hand on Sunday, day-3 of the second test in Multan.

Pakistan dominated the first session of day-3 when they bowled out England for 275 runs, but their 355-run target is a record chase for the hosts at the home ground to level the test series.

Pakistan’s side seemed ready for the chase too. However, England’s seamers delivered three magical deliveries in the second session to wrest back the initiative.

Multan Test: Final session

The see-saw contest changed the complexion in the final session of day-3 again after a 108-run partnership between Saud and Imam, who fell just before the close of the day for 60 runs.

Saud Shakeel was not out on 54, with Faheem Ashraf on three at the day close.

Pakistan finished the day-3 on 198-4 and is still trailing behind by 157 runs of their target to win the second test and level the series.

Earlier, the England cricket team added 73 runs to their overnight score of 202-5 on day-3.

Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed took 11 wickets in his debut test match. Pakistan spin bowlers claimed 18 of the 20 English wickets – the other two being run-outs.
