Ms Rachel Stands by Her Support for Gaza’s Children

ISLAMABAD:  YouTube star and children’s educator Rachel Accurso known as Ms. Rachel has said that the backlash over her speaking out in support of children in Gaza was “painful,” but says “I know who I am and I know what’s right.”  She was talking to CNN in an exclusive interview.

The United Nations (UN) has described Gaza as “the hungriest place on Earth”, and warned that the Palestinian territory’s entire population is at risk of famine.

Ms. Rachel said that many people thanked her for talking over the issue of Gaza while some disagreed with her on some points these kids need help.  She said that she knew kids in Gaza needed help and she always focused on children.

She said that she is an expert on children development, saying, “I worked for children my whole life for 20 years”. She said that she knew her responsibilities and she was doing what she could for children.

The UN has warned that all children of Gaza under the age of five are at risk of life-threatening malnourishment, amid growing reports of starvation-related deaths as Israel continues to block aid from entering the besieged Gaza Strip, Al Jazeera reported.

The UN’s World Food Programme (WFP) said children in this age bracket – around 320,000 in number – have been affected by the collapse of nutrition services and are lacking access to safe water, breast milk substitutes and therapeutic feeding.
