ISLAMABAD: In a landmark achievement, the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Stakeholders on Consortium Formation for the Machike-Thallian-Tarujabba White Oil Pipeline Project was held on Wednesday at SIFC Secretariat, PM Office Islamabad.
The ceremony was witnessed by Muhammad Ali, Minister for Power and Petroleum, Jameel Qureshi, Secretary SIFC, and Momin Agha, Secretary (Petroleum Division).
The heads of consortium entities, i.e. DG Frontier Works Organization Major General Abdul Sami, MD Pakistan State Oil Syed Muhammad Taha, and MD Interstate Gas Systems Pvt. Ltd Nadeem Bajwa inked the historical MoU.
The project is a testament to the commitment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council and Petroleum Division, a press release said.
It said that the Machike-Thallian-Taru Jabba White Oil Pipeline was aimed to complement the oil pipeline backbone from Karachi to Peshawar as well as achieve the energy-efficient movement of petroleum products, preventing adulteration and providing increased safety.
It will connect the Punjab province from Machike, near Lahore, to Tarujabba, close to Peshawar. The pipeline consists of 3 segments: Chakpirana to Rawat, Machike-Chakpirana, and Rawat to Tarujabba. It completes the infrastructure supply chain from Karachi to Peshawar.
The statement added that this may be called a flagship project spearheaded by FWO and jointly supported by ISGS and PSO.
Pipeline Aims to Ensure Smooth Supply Chain of Petroleum Products
The 427 km long pipeline is aimed at ensuring a smooth supply chain of petroleum products from Karachi to Peshawar with an initial carrying capacity of six MTPA.
The pipeline shall contribute considerably towards the reduction of traffic congestion, transportation costs, and environmental pollution.
