ISLAMABAD: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) have launched a campaign ‘#NoMore’ to reduce violations on motorways and promote road safety.
NHMP on Monday shared details with regard to the campaign, saying that the initiative aims to promote responsible driving habits and create awareness among motorists. Those violating traffic laws and regulations, such as using mobile phones, not wearing seat belts while driving, or over-speeding, will be fined heavily.
Spotters planted along motorways
For the enforcement of this campaign, spotters have been planted along the motorways, which are equipped with high-definition cameras to capture clear photos of vehicles. In addition, cameras will also capture violations such as drivers not wearing seat belts and using mobile phones while driving.
The vehicle number will also be recorded, making it easier for authorities to issue challans. A variable messaging system will be implemented to enhance the effectiveness, displaying the vehicle number on the back screen and reminding the violator about the fine.
Meanwhile, NHMP has urged motorists to cooperate with the Motorway Police and follow traffic rules and regulations to avoid fines.
