MOSCOW: Russia’s officials on Wednesday warned Seoul against sending arms to Ukraine after South Korea opened the door to probable military assistance to Kyiv in the event of a large-scale civilian assault.
An ally of the United States, South Korea has provided humanitarian help to Ukraine but has so far ruled out military assistance. But South Korean President told Reuters on Wednesday that “if there is a situation the world cannot ignore, such as any large-scale assault on civilians… it might be not easy for us to insist only on humanitarian and financial help”.

He added that the start of weapon supplies would indirectly mean a certain phase of involvement in this war,”.
The statement also drew a warning from Russia’s former leader Dmitry Medvedev, who served as president of the country between 2008 and 2012. The former president said Moscow could respond and send arms to North Korea. He further said, “I wonder what the people of this country will say when they see the Russian weapons with their closest neighbours.
