Moscow to Reply to Threats, Says NATO Returns to Cold War “Schemes”

Reuters reported that in a statement, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “The outcomes of the NATO Summit will be analyzed carefully. Taking into account the threats and challenges to Russia’s interests and security that have been identified, we will reply appropriately and timely, using all means at our disposal.”

The meeting demonstrated NATO’s “inability to adapt to the new geopolitical situation in the world,” the ministry added. It maintained the NATO alliance was repeatedly lowering the threshold for the use of force, escalating military and political tensions.

“Taking the course of escalation, NATO issued a new batch of pledges to provide Ukraine with more and more long-range arms to prolong the conflict to tiredness,” the ministry maintained.

The Ministry further said that they would continue to strengthen Russia’s military organization and defense system.

The NATO summit in Lithuania concluded with the US and its allies giving Kyiv new security assurances for its defense against Russia. The military alliance summit was also sustained by the prospect of Sweden joining NATO as its newest member following the Turkish President on Monday shortly dropped his previous objections.

Earlier, President Biden accused President Putin of a “cowardly lust for power and land” and lauded NATO’s unity and support for Kyiv.
