MOSCOW: Russia has said it has requested an immediate meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Friday (today) to discuss military strikes on Yemen by the United States (US) and Britain.
Russia’s permanent mission to the UN said that Moscow has requested an urgent session of the UN Security Council on Friday in connection with the US and UK strikes on Yemen.
The US and Britain launched strikes from the air and sea against Houthi in Yemen in reply to the movement’s assaults on vessels in the Red Sea, a dramatic regional widening of the Hamas- Israel conflict in the Gaza Strip.
A spokesperson for Houthis said there was no justification for the US-UK strike and said the group will continue targeting vessels heading towards Israel.
