NEW YORK: Moscow has included Norway to its list of foreign countries that have committed so-called “unfriendly” actions against Russian diplomatic missions, local media reported on Thursday. Norway had expelled 15 Russian diplomats for alleged spying in April, and Russia also responded by asking 10 Norwegian diplomats to leave Moscow.

In a statement, Norway said there was no reason to say that it had acted in an unfriendly way towards Moscow. “Today’s atmosphere is the outcome of Moscow’s war on Kyiv. Russia can itself select to end the war,” Norway’s Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt said.

“As neighbouring nations we both have an interest in diplomatic ties and channels of communication, not least in tough times,” Huitfeldt added. In a separate statement, a Norwegian foreign ministry said that Norway had not yet received a formal notification from Russia, and refused to comment on any specific results of Moscow’s decision.
