Monsoon Rains, Floods Kill 16 in Balochistan

QUETTA: The death toll from the monsoon rains and floods during the last month in different areas of Balochistan has risen to sixteen while nearly 1330 houses have been swept away.

Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said in a statement that the death toll from recent rains and floods in different areas of the province has risen to sixteen, including eight men, two women, and six children, while 24 people have been wounded.

Damages to Houses in Balochistan

The authority said on Thursday that torrential rains caused loss to about 628 livestock as well as damaged 1909 houses, out of which 1330 were completely swept away while 579 houses were partially damaged.

The PDMA reported that over twenty-four-kilometer length of roads and 320 solar plates were damaged due to the flash floods, while crops over more than 486 acres of land were also destroyed.

The PDMA is busy with relief activities in the affected districts.
