Mohsin Naqvi Set to Become ACC President

LAHORE: The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is set to welcome a new president, with Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), poised to assume the office of the council president.

As per media reports, Naqvi’s term will commence in January 2025 and span around two years, marking a significant moment for Pakistan’s role in regional cricket administration.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) presidency is appointed based on a rotation policy among member nations. Presently, Jay Shah, the secretary of the Indian board, holds the position of the President.

Jay Shah was granted a one-year extension to his term this January, confirming continuity in leadership and permitting for a smooth transition when Mohsin Naqvi takes over in 2025.

In addition to his role as PCB chief, Mohsin Naqvi also serves as Pakistan’s Interior Minister. With his upcoming presidency at the ACC, Naqvi will be managing around three key portfolios, reflecting his extensive experience and leadership abilities, local media reported.

The official announcement confirming Naqvi’s presidency is expected to be made at the next ACC meeting, scheduled for October-November.
