KARACHI: Temperatures soared above 52 degrees Celsius in southern province of Sindh and ‘city of the dead’ Mohenjo Daro recorded the highest reading of the summer as ongoing heatwave continue across Pakistan.
According to Met office, weather will stay extremely hot and dry in most of the plains across the country, with a chance of wind and dust storms in the afternoon in scattered regions
Islamabad will face very hot and dry conditions. Temperatures are likely to be 3 to 5 degrees Celsius above normal.
In Punjab, a severe heatwave will affect most plain districts and daytime temperatures are expected to be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius higher than usual. The weather in Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding areas will likely to remain dry.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also experience very hot weather in most plain districts, with a possibility of afternoon wind and storms. Temperatures are expected to be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal.
In Sindh, most upper districts will be under a severe heatwave, while coastal areas will have hot and humid weather. There is a chance of wind and storms during the day, with upper district temperatures likely to be 6 to 8 degrees Celsius above normal.
AccuWeather forecasts hazy sunshine and windy conditions in Balochistan in the afternoon, with a high of 33 degrees. Tonight, it will be breezy in the evening and otherwise clear, with a low of 16 degrees.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will both experience hot and dry weather, the PMD reports.
Furthermore, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for potential dust, wind, and rain in the upper areas until June 1.
