ISLAMABAD: Renowned for his determination on the cricket field, Pakistani wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan has revealed a lesser-known tale of perseverance and resilience in his personal life.
Speaking at an event, while sitting alongside Babar Azam, Rizwan shared insights into the challenges and triumphs that marked his eight-year-long pursuit of love.
Rizwan, whose heroic century against Sri Lanka during the 2023 ODI World Cup remains etched in fans’ memories, shed light on his romantic journey. He responded to questions about his love story, offering glimpses into the trials and tribulations he faced in pursuing his heart’s desire.
Addressing the audience, a person remarked on Rizwan’s devotion, stating, “We have with us today a man who not only loved but in fact prayed for her daily for eight years along with Quranic recitations.” The question prompted a light-hearted exchange between Rizwan and Babar.
Reflecting on his journey to marriage, Rizwan acknowledged the cultural and family hurdles he encountered along the way. “Everyone knows a love story is filled with difficulties, and in our Pathan culture, even more so,” he remarked. “I had to wait not one or two years but eight long years to marry the girl of my choice,” he disclosed.
