ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Haris delivered a sensational batting performance on Sunday, guiding his side to a comprehensive 3-0 series whitewash over Bangladesh with a thrilling win in the final match at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Haris played a match-winning unbeaten knock of 107 runs from just 46 balls, which included eight fours and seven sixes, at a staggering strike rate of 232.60. His outstanding display earned him the Player of the Match award.

With this remarkable century, the wicketkeeper-batsman became Pakistan’s second-fastest centurion in T20 Internationals, surpassing both Babar Azam and Ahmed Shehzad.

He brought up his maiden T20I hundred in 45 deliveries, bettering Babar Azam’s previous record of 49 balls and Ahmed Shehzad’s 58-ball effort.

The fastest T20I century for Pakistan still belongs to Hasan Nawaz, who reached the milestone in 44 balls during the series against New Zealand in March.

In the third T20I, Pakistan were set a challenging target of 197 runs. The innings got off to a shaky start as opener Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed early, managing just one run from four deliveries off the bowling of Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

However, Mohammad Haris and Saim Ayub soon stabilised the innings with a commanding partnership. The pair added 56 runs for the loss of just one wicket during the powerplay, maintaining an impressive scoring rate.

Crucial partnership

Haris and Saim went on to form a 92-run stand for the second wicket, displaying aggressive and fluent stroke play to keep Pakistan firmly in control. The partnership was eventually broken when Tanzim Hasan trapped Saim leg-before for 45 off 29 balls, leaving Pakistan at 100-2 after 9.5 overs.

Despite the setback, Mohammad Haris continued to anchor the innings, reaching his half-century with the score at 115-2 after 11 overs. Hasan Nawaz provided a brisk cameo, striking two boundaries before being dismissed for 26 off 13 balls by Mehidy Hasan, limiting Pakistan to 137-3 at 12.5 overs.

Unfazed, Haris continued to dominate the Bangladeshi bowling attack, effortlessly finding the boundary and clearing the ropes. He reached his century in just 45 balls, showcasing superb batting throughout.

Haris remained unbeaten on 107 from 46 deliveries, which included eight fours and seven sixes, while captain Agha Salman contributed a quick 14 off 11 balls, as Pakistan comfortably chased down the target in 17.1 overs.
