TAROUBA, Trinidad: Fast bowler Mohammad Ali claimed a four-wicket haul as Pakistan dismissed West Indies for 311 in 98.5 overs during the second session on day two of the first Test at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Sunday.
Resuming on 194-3 after a rain-affected opening day, West Indies built on their overnight score through Shai Hope’s composed innings before Pakistan’s pace attack triggered a collapse to wrap up the innings shortly after lunch.

West Indies had elected to bat but endured a difficult start on day one as Pakistan’s disciplined bowling kept the scoring under control.
Openers Brandon King and Tagenarine Chanderpaul put on just 13 runs before Mohammad Abbas struck with the second ball of the ninth over. King chopped a wide delivery onto his stumps and departed for 12 from 29 balls.
Kavem Hodge then joined Chanderpaul, but scoring remained difficult before rain interrupted play with West Indies on 23-1.
After the resumption, Hodge gradually settled into his innings and reached his fourth Test half-century. Together with Chanderpaul, he added 51 runs for the second wicket before Aamer Jamal broke the stand by dismissing Chanderpaul for 21 off 77 balls.
Amir Jangoo then scored positively alongside Hodge to take the hosts beyond 100, but Abbas struck again to remove Jangoo for 21 from 32 deliveries.
West Indies reached tea on 127-3 after 43 overs with Hodge unbeaten on 56 and Hope on 11.
Hope and Hodge rebuild innings
The pair continued to frustrate Pakistan in the final session on the opening day, extending their partnership through disciplined batting.
West Indies resumed day two on 194-3, but Pakistan made an immediate breakthrough when Khurram Shahzad dismissed Hodge for a determined 84 off 183 balls, with Salman Ali Agha taking the catch at second slip.
Hope and Justin Greaves steadied the innings with a 34-run fifth-wicket partnership, taking the total past 200 before Mohammad Ali claimed his first wicket by dismissing Greaves for 15.
Captain Roston Chase briefly supported Hope with a 26-run stand before Abbas claimed his third wicket, dismissing the West Indies skipper for 10 with Mohammad Rizwan completing the catch behind the stumps.
Hope continued to anchor the innings confidently, striking an elegant six over cover off Khurram Shahzad and bringing up his seventh Test half-century. He also shared a 17-run partnership with Kemar Roach as West Indies crossed the 300-run mark by lunch.

Pakistan wasted little time after the interval.
Mohammad Ali removed the attacking Shamar Joseph for a brisk 23 from just 13 balls after the all-rounder had counter-attacked with four boundaries and a six.
Hope’s fighting innings ended shortly afterwards when Ali claimed his third wicket, dismissing the right-hander for a well-crafted 92 from 182 deliveries, including six fours and a six.
Ali then completed his four-wicket haul by removing Jayden Seales for a duck, bringing the innings to a close at 311 in 98.5 overs.
Abbas finished with three wickets after producing disciplined spells throughout the innings, while Khurram Shahzad claimed two wickets and Aamer Jamal took one as Pakistan shared the wickets evenly to restrict the hosts despite Hope’s resilient knock.
