Mobilink Microfinance Bank Limited, GSMA Vow to Promote Digitalization

ISLAMABAD:  Mobilink Microfinance Bank Limited (MMBL) and GSMA, the global organization of mobile operators on Thursday agreed to support promoting digital inclusion across the country through innovative financial solutions. The two partners signed a Memorandum of Understanding in this regard.

This will decrease the gender gap in digital financing through different programs including Mobilink Microfinance Bank Limited’s program, Women Inspirational Network (WIN), and other steps.

The (MoU) will enable the two partners to implement joint programs for connectivity, and Information & Communications Technology (ICT) development in the country.

Mobilink Microfinance Bank Limited is also a part of the VEON group that gives online services in seven countries across the world.

Ghazanfar Azzam, President & CEO MMBL said that the rapid growth in teledensity across Pakistan has opened great opportunities and through this partnership, they want to enable digitally powered innovative solutions for women, and persons with disabilities. He said that they would increase the accessibility and affordability of mobile financial services.

On the occasion, the Chief Finance and Digital officer of Mobilink Microfinance Bank Limited (MMBL) said that digital, financial literacy are main drivers to enhance financial inclusion for everyone.

“We are happy to support the efforts of MMBL to address the hurdles in the process,” added Julian Gorman, Chief of APAC, GSMA.
