DUBAI: Miss Universe Bahrain, Evlin Khalifa, graced Thailand with her presence this week to show her support for the launch of a new line of health-conscious beverages under the Miss Universe brand. The product line, introduced by JKN Global Group, the owner of the Miss Universe Organization, was unveiled at the Icon Siam Mall in Bangkok, Thailand.
The event attracted a host of beauty queens, including the reigning Miss Universe, R’Bonney Gabriel from the United States, Miss Universe Thailand 2022, Anna Sueangam-iam, and Miss Universe India 2022, Divita Rai.
Excitement filled the air as Khalifa took to Instagram, sharing her enthusiasm for the event and expressing her joy in reuniting with her fellow Miss Universe sisters. “Sawasdee kha Bangkok! So excited to reunite with our @missuniverse and a dear friend @rbonneynola along with my MU sisters,” Khalifa’s Instagram post read.
Miss Universe Bahrain an Advocate for Education
Hailing from a diverse background with a Bahraini father and a Russian mother, Khalifa is not only a beauty queen but also an advocate for education and an ambassador for raising awareness about anorexia, a condition she has personally experienced. Her journey in the world of beauty pageants was inspired by Russian model Oxana Fedorova, who won the Miss Universe title in 2002. Khalifa also found inspiration in Pia Wurtzbach, a Filipino beauty queen known for her strength and grace.
Reflecting on the absence of Arab representatives in the Miss Universe competition, Khalifa shared her thoughts on the cultural challenges faced. She mentioned that at that time, one of the requirements to participate in Miss Universe was wearing a bikini, which was not permissible in their culture. She believes this was a barrier preventing Arab representatives from joining the competition.
Khalifa’s presence at the product launch event in Thailand not only showcased her support for the Miss Universe brand but also highlighted her dedication to promoting cultural understanding and inclusivity within the beauty pageant industry. Her participation serves as an inspiration to aspiring beauty queens, emphasizing the importance of breaking barriers and embracing diversity.
