LAHORE: The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination has requested the removal of Zaka Ashraf from his position as Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, citing his appointment as politically motivated.

In a letter to the Principal Secretary to the caretaker Prime Minister, Anwaarul Haq Kakar, who is also the patron in chief of the PCB, the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination asked for the removal of Zaka Ashraf from the position of Chairman of the PCB Management Committee.

The letter references a notification issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), which emphasizes the immediate discontinuation of services for institution heads appointed on political grounds. The directive further instructs that such cases should be presented to the commission for approval of termination or alternative action.

The Ministry has also called for the removal of Peer Syed Ahmed Nawaz Shah, who is the Chairman of the Federal Land Commission.

Zaka Ashraf’s Appointment

It’s worth noting that Zaka Ashraf, who received support from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), assumed the role of Chairman of the PCB Management Committee on July 6 after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved a new ten-member management committee headed by Zaka Ashraf for a period of four months.
