ISLAMABAD: The Metro Bus service in Islamabad, which had been suspended due to the protest of PTI, has now been completely restored.
Local media cited local official as saying that the Green, Blue, and Red Line bus services have been restored in the city. In addition to restoring the main Metro services, the official also issued directives to the immediate operation of electric buses on different routes to enhance connectivity across Islamabad.
The PTI’s demonstrations had earlier led to the temporary suspension of services, causing inconvenience to thousands of people, particularly those relying on the Metro Bus service for daily transportation.
On October 5, normal life in twin cities Islamabad and Rawalpindi had been severely disrupted for the second consecutive day as the PTI protests continue to paralyze the twin cities. Major highways as well as mobile services were also suspended, creating difficulties for citizens in both cities.
In Islamabad, mobile services were also suspended, and Metro bus services also came to a halt, causing transportation woes. Containers were put at the key entry and exit points of the cities, including D Chowk, Faizabad, and 26 No Chungi, to control the flow of protesters.
The entrances to Islamabad and Rawalpindi were also blocked by containers, with roads such as the Express Highway, D Chowk and Blue Area plunged into darkness as street lights were switched off to control the protest demonstrations. Faizabad had also become a hotspot for violent clashes, with police shelling continuing intermittently, and all roads of the area closed with containers.
