Meteorological Department Forecasts Cold, Dry Weather in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met) has forecast mainly dry weather in most parts of the country, while partly cloudy during the night.

However, light rain and thunderstorm is likely at isolated places in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and adjoining hilly areas.

Minimum recorded temperatures

The Met Office recorded the lowest minimum temperature of -07 °C Celsius in Leh, -02 °C in Kalam, Gupis, Astore, and -01 °C in Skardu.

Today’s recorded minimum temperature’s (°C): Leh -07, Kalam, Gupis, Astore -02 & Skardu -01.

As per the synoptic situation, a shallow westerly wave is affecting the upper parts of the country.

Weather and air quality

As per the air quality index (AQI), the air quality in Lahore is 160 US AQI, 154 in Rawalpindi, 109 in Faisalabad, 136 in Muridke, 202 in Bahawalpur. In Sindh, the air quality in Karachi has beeb recorded as 154 US AQI, 174 in Mirpur Khas, while air quality in Islamabad stands at 132. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, air quality is 163 in Peshawar and 82 in Abbottabad.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the maximum of 18 degrees Celsius (°C) temperature was recorded in Islamabad, 18°C in Lahore, 23°C in Karachi, 15°C in Peshawar, 9°C in Quetta, and 8°C in Gilgit.
