OTTAWA: Meta social media platform has started to end news availability in Canada after a law was introduced in the country requiring digital media outlets to pay news publishers.
The government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has just passed the Online News Act.
Rachel Curran, Meta Canada’s head of public policy, in a statement, said the company has been transparent about its concerns adding that it is wrong to say that Meta unfairly benefits from news content shared on its platforms.
