ISLAMABAD: The Melbourne Stars have unveiled a special stand named the “House of Rauf” at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) for the upcoming Big Bash League season, dedicated to celebrating Pakistani fans and honouring fast bowler Haris Rauf.

The Melbourne Stars’ initiative aims to bridge cricketing excellence with cultural pride, offering a unique match-day experience for Pakistani fans who have passionately supported the team in recent years.

“We want Pakistani fans to come, enjoy our matches, and showcase their heritage,” said Max Abbott, General Manager of Melbourne Stars.

“This isn’t just about cricket – it’s about creating a space where identity, pride, and fandom collide in the most exciting way.”

In the middle of this cultural celebration is Haris Rauf, the fiery right-arm fast bowler who has become a household name among BBL fans since joining the Stars in 2019.

With 36 wickets in 22 matches and a reputation for thrilling spells and heart-pounding finishes, Rauf is more than just a player, he’s become a symbol of cross-cultural cricketing connection.

“Haris has been an incredible ambassador for the Stars,” Abbott added. “The energy he brings on the field is matched only by the passion he inspires off it. The ‘House of Rauf’ is a tribute to that connection – and to the amazing Pakistani fans who bring their energy, pride, and love for the game to every match.”

The stand will immerse fans in the sights, sounds, and flavours of Pakistan. Expect the beats of dhol drums, the aromas of street food, and an atmosphere that echoes the legendary cricketing venues of Lahore and Karachi.

From green flags to festive chants, the “House of Rauf” promises to be more than just a stand – it’s a celebration.

The initiative also aligns with Cricket Australia’s Multicultural Action Plan, reinforcing the commitment to creating inclusive pathways and representing the full spectrum of Australia’s cricket-loving communities.

The 2025-26 BBL season kicks off on December 14, with the Perth Scorchers taking on the Sydney Sixers in a blockbuster opener.

The Melbourne Stars will launch their campaign on December 18 against the Hobart Hurricanes and when they do, the House of Rauf will be ready to roar.
