ISLAMABAD: Renowned Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat is set to make a return to television drama after an eight-year absence, according to reports, sparking excitement among her fans, who have eagerly awaited her return to the small screen.
Mehwish Hayat, a celebrated figure in Pakistani entertainment, last appeared in a full-scale drama series in 2016 with the critically acclaimed show “Dil Lagi,” where she starred alongside Humayun Saeed. Her most recent television venture was a telefilm titled ‘Ijazat,’ which aired seven months ago and featured a notable collaboration with fashion icon Hassan Sheheryar Yasin (HSY). This telefilm marked her return to television after a seven-year hiatus, though it was not a full-scale drama series.
The latest rumors suggest that Mehwish Hayat is gearing up for a leading role in an upcoming drama serial, set to air on a private entertainment channel. Reports indicate that she will be reuniting with actor Ahsan Khan for this project.

“I received many offers from Bollywood, but I declined all of them,” Hayat stated. She cited the abundant opportunities available in Pakistan as her primary reason for turning down roles from across the border.
“I have countless opportunities here in Pakistan. I have been part of the revival of Pakistani cinema and some of its biggest and most successful films. I have received immense respect and love in my country,” she added.
Hayat expressed her gratitude towards her fans for their continued support, noting that the chance to work on projects that resonate with Pakistani audiences and to see families enjoying her films together is a significant achievement.
