ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s religion ministry arranged a 7-day Quraan recitation event, also known locally as “Mehfil-e-Shabeena,” at the iconic Shah Faisal Mosque in Islamabad, starting on Sunday.
The Shabeena is an annual event in which the entire holy Quran is recited for up to 3 nights during the last days of Ramadan.

In Pakistan, notable reciters of the Holy Quraan (Qaris), are gathered each year at the Faisal Mosque to participate in the event.
Annual Mehfil-e-Shabeena, under the auspices of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, began at Faisal Mosque Islamabad in Ishaa.
The Mehfil started after the Tarawih prayers and would continue late into the night.
