ISLAMABAD/PARIS: French football star Kylian Mbappe has said he would never get over the heartbreak of losing the FIFA World Cup final as he scored the game-winning goal in his comeback for Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

“I think I am never going to get over it,” the 24-year-old said as he recalled the final against Argentina in which he had scored a hat-trick.

In Wednesday’s match, Mbappe displayed a performance similar to that in Qatar as he converted a 96th-minute penalty to secure PSG a dramatic 2-1 victory over Strasbourg.

“As I told my teammates, there is no justification for the club to bear the cost of the national team’s failure because the two situations are so dissimilar,” he added.

Mbappe: one of the best players of present times

Mbappe, who plays forward for the French national team and Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain, is considered one of the top players of the current era. He is recognised for his dribbling skills, great speed, and finishing.

Despite ending up on the losing side, he was awarded the Golden Boot in Qatar for scoring the most goals in the world cup.
