LAHORE: Fashion designer Khadija Shah was sent on judicial remand for 14 days by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in a case of setting police cars on fire near Rahat Bakery Chowk in the Cantonment area during the May 9 violence.
Earlier, Khadija was brought before the court for her involvement in the May 9 violence case. Following a short hearing, the court ordered her to jail for a 14-day judicial remand, with instructions to present her in court at the end of this remand period.
The proceedings in the case filed by the Sarwar Road police were presided over by ATC Judge Abher Gul Khan.
Under the Anti-Terrorism Act, the police had filed a charge against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders and members for setting police vehicles on fire near Rahat Bakery Chowk.
In a related development, the Punjab Inspector General of Police has been personally summoned by the Lahore High Court on November 3 in response to an unsatisfactory report that the Capital City Police Officer had presented regarding Khadija’s case. Justice Ali Baqar Najafi heard the case.
