LAHORE: The prime suspect behind a honey trap targeting prominent writer Khalilur Rehman Qamar has been arrested, police said in a statement. Hassan Shah, accompanied by his partner Rafiq, was apprehended in Peshawar. Shah is accused of leading a 12-member gang, which included women to trap Qamar.

According to police reports, Shah stated that Khalilur Rehman Qamar went to the woman’s house not to discuss the script but with bad intention. Qamar had previously asserted that he was kidnapped. Police have already arrested 12 people in connection with the case, including a female.

Responding to a question that why he met the woman late at night, Khalilur Rehman Qamar replied to media persons, “I am currently ill, and my doctor has advised me to avoid sunlight for around five years. Even if my doctor hadn’t advised it, we do meetings at night regardless of gender. I have met men late at night many times, so why should this be different?”

Qamar also claimed that his kidnappers mentioned the names of actors Saba Qamar and Noman Ijaz during his abduction. In a podcast, the screenwriter shared his experience, saying that he initially hesitated to file an FIR because the kidnappers had mentioned the names of Saba Qamar and Noman Ijaz.
