KYIV: On Friday, Russian drones targeted the city of Kyiv, striking multiple residential districts as reported by Mayor Vitali Klitschko and various other officials from across the area.
Throughout this month, the capital experienced its sixth drone attack. The most recent incident, according to Klitschko’s update on Telegram, involved a drone striking a block of flats in the Solomyanskyi district. This led to a fire on the upper floors, swiftly contained before causing extensive damage. Emergency services, also communicating via Telegram, confirmed damage to several apartments spanning multiple storeys of the building—24th, 25th, and 26th floors. Two individuals sustained injuries, with one currently hospitalized. Notably, the occurrence transpired mere meters away from a maternity hospital.

Following the incident, air raid alerts were lifted across almost all regions. Social media shared a video capturing a vivid orange flame shooting into the night sky. Additionally, Klitschko mentioned another incident involving drone fragments igniting a fire at a construction site in the Darnytskyi district, situated on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, although images online displayed scattered construction materials at the scene.
Further reports from Serhiy Popko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, detailed additional drone fragments striking an apartment building in the Holosiivskyi district, also located south of the city centre. Popko shared images showcasing significant damage, including shattered windows and severe harm to multiple apartments.
