Masood Khan Presents Credentials to Bahamas’ GG as Pakistan’s non-resident High Commissioner

WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Masood Khan has presented his credentials to the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Bahamas, Cynthia Pratt, as non-resident high commissioner at a ceremony in Nassau, the capital city, local media reported on Thursday.

In a statement, Masood Khan said that as the High Commissioner of Pakistan to the Bahamas, it would his priority and privilege to work towards enhancing their bilateral relations. He expressed these remarks before formally presenting his credentials.  He said that the Government of Pakistan is focused on enhancing its international ties and they see Bahamas as a key partner in this endeavor.

Governor-General Pratt, while accepting the letters of credence of Pakistan ambassador, stated that Bahamas deeply admired Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage, its diverse traditions and the remarkable resilience of its people. She said that Bahamas recognizes Islamabad vital contributions to regional stability, and global peacekeeping efforts. The governor-general said that the Bahamas stands in solidarity with Pakistan in its pursuit of stability, peace, and prosperity.

On the occasion, Masood Khan stated that two sides have immense potential to enhance trade and investment relations, particularly in sectors such as financial services, tourism, and information technology.

By fostering collaborative ventures and leveraging their respective strengths, they can unlock important economic opportunities that will benefit both their nations, he said. He said that they are committed to facilitating cultural, social exchanges and educational that will not only deepen their understanding of each other’s rich heritage but also forge lasting bonds of friendship between their citizens.

Governor -General Pratt has assured the ambassador that her government was keen to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation with Pakistan across different sectors, including tourism, trade, cultural exchange and education.

She further said that by leveraging their respective strengths and resources, she is confident that they can create a brighter and more prosperous future for their people.

Thanking the Government of Bahamas for its support to Pakistan’s candidature for a non-permanent seat on the UNSC, Masood Khan pointed out that mutual collaboration in multilateral organizations presented an excellent opportunity for both the nations to advance common goals and address global issues such as climate change.  Ms. Pratt expressed appreciation for Islamabad’s efforts towards pressing issues such as climate change and sustainable development.

The envoy also met Sameer Bhatti, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC). Sameer Bhatti, a Bahamian of Pakistani descent, briefed the envoy about how his firm was serving the community in the field of technology.
