WASHINGTON: In a recent address to Foreign Service Officers in Washington DC, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, emphasized the significance of nurturing and elevating the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and the United States.

Ambassador Khan underscored that the foremost priority in Pak-US ties is to sustain and enhance this relationship to a higher level.

Regional stability and socio-economic development, achieved through a robust economic partnership, are at the core of the two countries’ joint agenda. Addressing a group of over 16 Foreign Service Officers undergoing a 32-week Urdu language and Culture Training at the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) of the United States, Ambassador Khan reiterated the commitment to bolster economic ties and broaden the scope of the existing relationship, particularly in non-security sectors.

Ambassador Khan urged US diplomats to utilize their diplomatic skills and expertise to foster people-to-people linkages and promote a strong economic partnership between Pakistan and the United States. He acknowledged the enduring decades-long relationship between the two nations and expressed confidence that collaborative efforts would bring them even closer.

During the session, the Ambassador highlighted Pakistan’s strengths, emphasizing its untapped potential, abundant natural resources, strategic geographical location, and rich cultural heritage. Ambassador Joan A. Polaschik, Director of the FSI, provided an overview of various training programs at FSI aimed at offering world-class diplomatic training to US Foreign Service Officers. The objective is to equip them with the skills necessary to excel in the global arena, advance U.S. foreign policy, and effectively represent the American people.

Furthermore, the discussion between the two sides explored the potential collaboration between the Foreign Service Academy of Pakistan and the US Foreign Service Institute. Such collaboration would allow both nations to leverage mutual expertise and experiences, enhancing the diplomatic capabilities of their respective Foreign Service Officers. This step further signifies the commitment to fostering a strong and enduring relationship between Pakistan and the United States.
