Maryam Nawaz Lauds Pakistan Army for Safeguarding Nuclear Programme

LAHORE: Maryam Nawaz, the Senior Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), expressed her gratitude to the Pakistan Army for its role in defending the country’s nuclear programme.

Speaking at a rally in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz also extended her thanks to other law enforcement agencies, politicians, scientists, and engineers who contributed to the development and protection of Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities.

In her address, Maryam Nawaz took a swipe at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, stating that the world remembers individuals who are not involved in vandalism but rather work towards the progress of the nation. She lauded the PML-N’s leader, stating that Nawaz Sharif’s name stands out when it comes to the development and defense of the country.

Referring to a significant moment in Pakistan’s nuclear history, Maryam Nawaz highlighted how Nawaz Sharif, as Prime Minister, made the decision to approve a nuclear test despite international pressure.

She recalled that even former US President Bill Clinton had urged Nawaz Sharif against conducting the test. Despite facing the threat of sanctions, Nawaz Sharif stood firm and successfully navigated the challenges.

Maryam Nawaz Emphasizes Unity

Maryam Nawaz emphasized the unity within the PML-N, noting that despite political vendettas, the party remained intact and loyal to Nawaz Sharif. She contrasted the events of May 9 and May 28, pointing out the stark difference in leadership.

She expressed that every citizen commemorates the day when Pakistan became a nuclear power while expressing shame and disappointment regarding the incidents that occurred on May 9.

Describing the events of May 9, Maryam Nawaz remarked that Pakistan witnessed scenes typically associated with countries affected by terrorism, such as Afghanistan. She highlighted the importance of strong leadership and unity in upholding the country’s honor and progress.
