ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Thursday claimed that former chief justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa had sought an extension from the PML-N supremo, Nawaz Sharif.
In an interview with a private news channel, Maryam challenged the ex-chief justice, saying, he place his hand on the Qur’an and tell the world that he didn’t talk about his extension.
Maryam added that had Nawaz Sharif agreed to the extension, Umar Ata Bandial would not have been the chief justice of Pakistan now.
She said there were even talks of increasing the retirement age for the apex court judges, which was for the benefit of Justice (retd) Khosa.
Maryam said that a delegation had conveyed Justice Khosa’s message to Nawaz Sharif, who was incarcerated then, but he refused to grant the same.
It is to be noted that in 2017, the former CJP Khosa headed a Supreme Court bench which had disqualified Nawaz Sharif in the Panama Papers case.
Maryam Nawaz speaks about Gen. Faiz Hamid
During the interview, Maryam Nawaz also spoke about former Inter-Services Intelligence director general Lt-Gen (R) Faiz Hamid and said he had “confessed” to his crime.
A day earlier, Maryam Nawaz, in a media interview, had demanded the ex-ISI chief’s court martial for his alleged role in getting her and her father Nawaz Sharif convicted in the NAB corruption cases in 2017. Maryam further said that as of now, she wanted to make an example of General Hamid.
